Ivan Lopez's work gravitates between the Analysis of the Economics of Conflict and Economic Development. He is broadly interested in understanding individual and collective economic behavior in contexts with inadequate protection of property rights. His research methods comprise modeling and applied econometrics focusing on spatial analysis. Ivan's research areas include evaluating place-based policies against illicit activities and conflict, the link between migration and crime, and the relationship between international trade and the occurrence of wars. He has published in the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and Economic Theory. On top of his academic papers, he has published policy-oriented posts on blogs such as Vox CEPR Policy Portal and Focoeconomico. Ivan received his Ph.D. in Economics from Indiana University and is currently a faculty member of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Sabanci University.
