Active scholars at Indiana University and in other settings who have an interest in research being done at the Ostrom Workshop are welcome to apply to be a Workshop Affiliate.
Workshop Affiliates can present and receive feedback from their peers, conduct research, develop new programs, and enjoy other financial benefits.
Benefits of being an Affiliate
- Opportunities to present and receive feedback on research in progress
- Engage in interdisciplinary research
- Participate in current and developing Research Programs
- Draw on financial support for themselves and their most promising students
- Communicate with the Workshop about research ideas that may develop into collaborative projects and use resources that can help in the development of these projects
Opportunities for engagement, networking, and presentations
- Attend the Colloquium Series and the Research Series (held every Monday and Wednesday at noon, respectively), offering feedback to faculty members, visiting scholars, and graduate students from IU and around the world
- Nominate Visiting Scholars to work collaboratively with, and/or serve as a co-mentor for visiting scholars
- Start a Working Group to promote collaborative activities and research on a topic of your choice
- Serve on internal committees, if invited to do so. There are four committees: Visiting Scholars, Colloquium Series, Research Award, and Ostrom Fellowship
Submit grants—or or serve as Co-PI if external affiliate—through the Ostrom Workshop. In order to incentivize external grant applications, applicants are allowed to keep 50% of the ICR - Host or co-host an event within one of our Research Programs
Participate in collaborative projects within one of our Research Programs - Host a lunch or dinner for a colloquium presenter or visiting researcher/scholar
- Host a graduate student as a visitor to your university for fieldwork or independent work under your tutorship
