Outside organizations honoring the Ostroms‘ legacy

The following memorial awards are given by organizations outside the Ostrom Workshop. Please contact these organizations individually for additional information.

Elinor Ostrom Lifetime Achievement Award (Society for Institutional & Organizational Economics [SIOE])

Established in 2015, the award is given every two years for sustained significant academic contributions to institutional and organizational economics.

Elinor Ostrom Award on Collective Governance of the Commons (International Association for the Study of the Commons [IASC])

Established in 2013, the award is given every two years to acknowledge and promote the work of practitioners, young scholars, and senior scholars involved in the field of the commons.

Elinor Ostrom Prize (WINIR/JOIE, World Interdisciplinary Network for Institutional Research; Journal of Institutional Economics [JOIE])

Awarded each year for the best fulllength article published in JOIE in the preceding calendar year.

Ostrom Memorial Award for Most Innovative Paper of the Year (International Journal of the Commons [IJC])

Awarded annually, this prize goes to the paper that's the most socially relevant and innovative with wide application.

Elinor Ostrom Career Achievement Award (American Political Science Association [APSA])

The Elinor Ostrom Career Achievement Award is given each year to an individual in recognition of their lifetime contribution to the study of science, technology, and environmental politics.

Vincent and Elinor Ostrom Prize (Public Choice Society)

Awarded to a graduate student each year for the best combined paper and presentation at the Annual Meetings of the Public Choice Society.
