Indiana University is expanding its Space Governance program by introducing the nation’s first academic program dedicated to cybersecurity of space systems. The Space Cybersecurity Digital Badge supplements its offerings of courses focused on space law and governance.
Since Russia’s cyberattacks on space-based services provided by commercial US space companies as part of the war in Ukraine, cybersecurity of space systems is high on the agenda, spurring discussions at the White House and in Congress, and a US $700 million budget request by the Space Force for this purpose alone. A fast-growing market has emerged, with high demand for professionals and firms and an unmet supply of skilled personnel and training programs.
The Space Cybersecurity Digital Badge meets this critical need by training the first generation of space cybersecurity experts. At the end of the program, participants will have the capability to develop and implement effective strategies for managing cyber risks to space-based infrastructure.
The 10-week virtual instructor-led program will run from September 11 to November 13 and offers the ability to earn waived credits toward IU’s prestigious 12-credit hour Kelley School of Business graduate certificate in Cybersecurity Management or the 30-credit hour MS in Cybersecurity Management. Thanks to dedicated funding, many full and partial scholarships are available to cover the $3,995 tuition. Follow this link to apply for a full scholarship!
