James B. Romano is a Senior Research Assistant, Space Governance Lab at Indiana University Bloomington, where he is affiliated with the Ostrom Workshop established by Nobel Laureate Elinor Ostrom. Romano is a 2024-2025 Ostrom Fellow researching space security, Space-Cyber Power, and domestic and international space law and policies, and the commercialization of the aerospace industry.
Romano is a 3L J.D. Candidate at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law from Columbia City, Indiana. He holds a B.A. in International Law & Institutions and a B.A. in East Asian Language & Culture from the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies as well as minors in History and Spanish. He also completed the Space Cybersecurity Digital Badge Program at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. He is a 2023 Stewart
Global Internship Program Fellow, 2023 Rumsfeld Graduate Fellow, the 2024 Maccabee Task Force Fellow.
Romano is published in the Georgia Law Review and has served as an Articles Editor for Vol. 100 of the Indiana Law Journal. He has participated in internships with the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Air Force JAG Corps, and Marval O’Farrell Mairal, a large law firm in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In addition to his professional experiences, he is a member of the Association of Commercial Space Professionals and is the current president of the Space Law Society at the Maurer School of Law.
