Elinor and Vincent OstromIn 1973, Vincent and Elinor (Lin) Ostrom co-founded the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis at IU Bloomington. In 2012, in honor of the Ostroms, IU renamed the center to the Vincent and Elinor Ostrom Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis. The Ostroms delved deeply into how institutional arrangements affected performance of urban police agencies, irrigation systems, and forest resources. From a simple tradition of voluntarily organized weekly colloquia with their colleagues across campus, they crafted an academic environment in which students, visiting scholars, and colleagues from diverse disciplines and countries interacted daily, studying issues of institutional analysis and collective action.

The materials below provide a sampling of background information on the Ostrom Workshop.
