The Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis

Visiting Scholars Program

The mission of The Vincent and Elinor Ostrom Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis (the Ostrom Workshop) is to promote the interdisciplinary study of institutions, incentives, and behavior as they relate to policy-relevant applications in the behavioral sciences. The term “workshop” represents the conviction of Vincent and Elinor Ostrom that the skills for this research are best acquired and used in a collaborative setting where graduate students, and junior faculty working as apprentices and journeymen, have the opportunity to collaborate and learn from experienced scholars.

The Ostrom Workshop’s Visiting Scholars Program wishes to promote visits from experienced scholars from around the world for a few days or up to two years. Visiting scholars are expected to interact with faculty, students, and other visitors through seminars, colloquia, and other activities at the Ostrom Workshop and on the Bloomington campus more widely. Senior and Junior Scholars are encouraged to apply. Ideally, the candidate would have a collaboration in progress with an IUB Affiliated Faculty or has concrete plans to do so. The goal is to provide opportunities for visiting scholars not only to advance their own work, but collaboratively work on high-profile research/publications, as well as grant activity. We have some funding available for Senior and Junior Scholars. Visits should be during the academic year, August 15 – May 15.
